Capabilities Aluminum Foundries Iron Foundries Foseco's on-going innovation in the application and technology of feeding systems, filtration, molten metal transfer and metal treatment has focused on opportunities to improve iron foundry performance. Today, Foseco has added direct pour technology, lost foam patterns, high performance mold and core coatings, and environmentally friendly mold and core binders to the list of high-performance capabilities our customers can employ. Steel Foundries In the steel foundry industry, Foseco is nearly synonymous with yield and quality improvement. Our ladle lining systems, riser sleeves, filters, binders and coatings are industry standards. The application of our filtration and direct pour technology to steel foundry practice has already shown the tremendous value that is available to foundries that adopt this practice.
Product Information: Technical Service/Application Engineering The top priority of Foseco's experienced sales team and product application managers is to find opportunities for our customers to profit from our high quality products and services. Foseco's approach embraces all aspects of performance, from the core room to the board room. Product Development Graduate and post-graduate chemists, metallurgists, ceramists and engineers staff Foseco's product development and analytical laboratories. U.S.-based product development facilities include computer simulation, water modeling, pilot plant capabilities, high temperature testing and hot modulus of rupture testing of refactories. Centers of excellence have been established in major operating companies around the world to bring fundamental development activities closer to critical markets. Manufacturing Facilities Foseco's plants make about 400 different product formulations from over 800 raw materials in more than 500,000 square feet of manufacturing space. Tooling is designed and built centrally. Foseco makes multi-million dollar investments in computer controlled equipment, robotics, CAD/CAM, CNC tooling and automatic systems to insure manufacturing consistency and provide developmental flexibility. This results in products that our customers can depend on. Quality Commitment Foseco is dedicated to continuous improvement and Total Quality as a way of doing business. In all our operations, cross-functional action teams of both hourly and salaried employees search for process problems and initiate corrective actions to prevent recurring errors, reduce variability and shorten cycle times. We also continuously work with suppliers to improve and document the quality of our raw materials while employing statistical process control techniques to control our own processes. As part of the cultural commitment to Total Quality, we have implemented a program of defect prevention rather than detection.
