Fairmount Minerals

Achieving uncommon performance from the earth’s most common minerals

Fairmount Minerals, headquartered in Chardon, Ohio, is a group of market-driven companies consisting of 8 mining operations and 3 resin-coated sand facilities. In addition, Fairmount Minerals has a distribution network that reaches around the world. Fairmont Minerals is one of the largest producers of industrial sand in the U.S. and has enhanced its core business through acquisitions and product developments to better serve its markets.

Sand…the origin of an uncommon company

As common as most people think sand may be, it takes uncommon expertise, experience and resources to meet the demanding requirements of today’s industries that rely on sand in their everyday work.

With this in mind, a group of customer-driven entrepreneurs formed Fairmount Minerals in 1986. Its purpose: to create an unprecedented sales and service organization committed to the development and marketing of the highest quality silica sand products that consistently and cost-effectively meet customer requirements.

Strategic acquisitions brought some of the country’s most successful and experienced silica sand related technology companies together. These partners, who form the various divisions, have been continuously mining, processing and selling high purity silica sand and related products since 1890. These companies have molded the glass, foundry, golf course, landscape, lawn and garden, oil and gas, industrial coatings, abrasives and water filtration markets.

Products and services

Fairmount Minerals offers a full line of foundry products such as high purity silica sands, lake sands and resin-coated sand. Some of the premium products and services available are:

Quality is a standard, not a goal

The company’s extensive laboratory facilitates the development, testing and modification of products to meet any application.

One way to consistently exceed quality standards is to constantly upgrade technology. Through active involvement with industry organizations, Fairmount Minerals helps formulate industry specifications and educate and train end users. Regular product testing, monitoring and analyses are completed on site at its extensive laboratory facilities.
