Bentonite Performance Minerals has been a supplier of high quality Wyoming bentonite since the 1920's  Since 1948 when our Colony plant was constructed near the center of the most desirable bentonite deposit in Wyoming, we have shipped nearly 14,000,000 tons of product to satisfied customers worldwide. During this period, we have developed additional mineral reserves and built new facilities in Lovell, Wyoming, and Waterloo, Iowa, to expand capacity and capability.  These activities assure constant, high quality products for our clients for the foreseeable future.

The foundry industry remains the cornerstone of Bentonite Performance Minerals' business activities.  The industry has benefited from our introduction of the methylene blue test, PETRO Bond® and HYDROBOND®.  Ongoing research activities focus upon product innovation to assure that our clients  remain on the leading edge of new technology in an ever-more competitive environment.  Bentonite Performance Minerals is also a significant supplier of Wyoming bentonite products to the iron ore pelletizing, absorbent, environmental, and specialty end use markets.

Product Information:
NATIONAL® Standard bentonite is the choice of leading foundries worldwide as a green sand binder.

HYDROBOND® is a modified bentonite combining the superior performance of sodium bentonite with the desirable characteristics of southern bentonite. HYDROBOND® contains neither calcium bentonite nor is it a blend of different sodium bentonites.

BARAMIX® is a family of custom-designed, single-package foundry binders consisting of NATIONAL® Standard bentonite, sea coal, and, depending upon customer requirements, dextrin, gilsonite, etc. Performance is a basic premise of the BARAMIX® family. HYDROBOND® may also be a component of BARAMIX®, replacing NATIONAL® Standard. BARAMIX®is produced in dedicated facilities in Colony, Wyoming, and Waterloo, Iowa.

BARABOND® southern (calcium) bentonite is recognized for superior quality in foundry applications where shake-out is of paramount importance.

PETRO BOND®, an oil tempered binder for green sand molding, is famous worldwide. Some foundries even refer to their molding method as the                "PETRO BOND® Process."

Projected Goals:
In keeping with the need for technical advance, Bentonite Performance Minerals established a foundry laboratory in Waterloo, Iowa, to meet the needs of our customers. An ongoing goal of this laboratory is to continue research into methods of controlling, documenting, and improving green sand technology.

Bentonite Performance Minerals recognizes the challenges facing the cast metal industry and is committed to addressing them. Mined from top quality reserves, and carefully monitored during stockpiling and transporting, Bentonite Performance Minerals bentonite is processed under careful supervision of our Quality Assurance Laboratory to guarantee that both Bentonite Performance Minerals and industry standards are met.
