Allied Mineral Products, Inc. was founded in 1961 and began operation as a distributor of electrically refined minerals. Over the course of the next two decades Allied grew to become respected as the worldwide leader in refractories for induction melting in the foundry industry. During the 1980's Allied developed advanced product lines for the integrated steel industry and aluminum industry.

In the 1990's Allied expanded its worldwide operation opening production facilities in Europe, South Africa, and China. Allied also acquired two companies, one specializing in refractories for the aluminum industry and the other in precast refractory shapes. During the same period Allied increased its worldwide sales organization adding direct sales representatives in Europe, Korea, China, Thailand, Taiwan, South America, Mexico, and Canada. Licensees and Distributors were also added throughout the world.
